Massage falls into various catagories based on the techniques used, the pressure applied and the results.

Classic Swedish Massage:

This relaxation style is a smooth, flowing massage of the entire body using oil or lotion to reduce friction.  Done unclothed to your level of comfort.  Best for relieving stress and tension.

Chair Massage:

This popular technique is done fully clothed on a specialily designed chair. Most sessions are 5-30 minutes and allows the therapist to focus on the back, shoulders, neck and arms.

Deep Tissue Massage:

Popular request.  Deep Tissue is often confused with a deep pressure massage.  Deep Tissue is actually a more invasive type of massage.  The style can be flowing as in a Swedish, but normally is a more focused technique.  Therapist works through superficial layers of muscle to connect with deeper muscles.  A good deep tissue massage will NOT leave you in pain but will ease tension and pain in deeper muscles.

Sports Massage:

Usually a heavier handed massage comprised mostly of compression to loosen tight muscles and restore balance to improve range of motion, speed recovery and improve performance.  Can be done clothed or disrobed.  If disrobed, cross fiber and circular friction can also be used.

Prenatal (Pregnancy) Massage:

A gentle blend of the above techniques to help ease tension and pain associated with pregnancy.  Can be done lying on the side for comfort of the guest with pillows for support as needed.

Therapeutic Massage:

True therapy using a combination of techniques and strokes based on guest needs.  Therapeutic is not a smooth, flowing massage and is good for chronic pain issues, acute problems and those with repeating patterns of tension or pain.  Focuses on problem areas first and the areas that can affect those problem areas, such as glutes for low back pain.
